5-minute habits to help you become more self-aware.

  1. Journal. Even just 5 minutes an evening, right before you go to sleep or right after you wake up, journal your thoughts and emotions. Ask yourself; How do I feel about my life right now? What are my top 3 thoughts today? What am I most grateful for? - just write anything you want for 5 minutes, this helps you gain distance from yourself so you can look at your life more objectively.

  2. Be fully in the moment. Wiggle and feel your toes, make your fingers touch, feel your breath in your throat, your chest, and in your stomach. FEEL your body. Feel your limbs, take your tongue from the roof of your mouth, relax your shoulders, straighten your back and take a deep breath. That’s how we center ourselves in the moment. Takes less than 5 minutes, do it now.

  3. Take a “third-person” perspective on your thoughts. What if someone else was saying that to you? Would they be correct? Just check in with yourself, you can set an alarm three times a day when you take 5 minutes to take a third-person perspective on what’s happening inside your head. Talk to your brain like it’s a friend, calm it down, soothe it, make it laugh, whatever it needs. Be there, for your brain.
